Virtual Participation

Social Capital 2026 — Now Fully Online

Due to the evolving situation in the Gulf, the Social Capital 2026 Conference will now take place entirely online. While we had hoped to gather in person in Dubai, the safety and certainty of participants is our priority. Moving online allows the conference to proceed as planned while ensuring that scholars and practitioners from around the world can participate without disruption.

The shift to a fully virtual format also creates new opportunities. Without travel barriers, more people can join the conversation, making the conference more accessible, inclusive, and globally connected than ever before.

Social Capital 2026 will still bring together leading researchers, practitioners, and policymakers working on social capital across disciplines and sectors. The program includes keynote presentations from Robert Putnam, Raj Chetty, and Beate Völker, alongside paper sessions, panels, and interactive discussions.

A Fully Online Conference Experience

The conference will run 25–26 March 2026, with sessions scheduled to accommodate participants from multiple time zones. Delegates will be able to attend presentations, join discussions, and connect with others in the field from anywhere in the world.

The event will be hosted on Whova, a leading conference platform that supports an engaging and interactive online experience.

Through Whova, participants will be able to:

  • Attend live conference sessions and presentations
  • Watch session recordings on demand
  • Participate in Q&A and discussion forums
  • Connect with other delegates through messaging, community boards, and networking tools
  • Access the full conference program, speaker profiles, and updates in one place

Whova makes it possible to recreate many of the benefits of an in-person conference — including spontaneous conversations, thematic discussions, and opportunities to build new connections with others working in this space.
